xattr command not found

In Ubuntu xattr is provided by xattr package.

xattr is:

xattr tool allows manipulation of the filesystem extended attributes present in some operating systems (GNU/Linux included).

This package contains the xattr cli tool.

To fix this problem, we can install more using the command below.

sudo apt-get -y install xattr

This command might take some time to finish depending on your machine internet connection.

You can also use apt command to install xattr.

sudo apt -y install xattr

Or if you have aptitude installed you can use the following command.

sudo aptitude install xattr
