nextpnr-generic command not found

When you run more command in linux terminal / console, you get the following error message

nextpnr-generic: command not found

or when using sudo you get the following error message

sudo: nextpnr-generic: command not found

In Ubuntu nextpnr-generic is provided by nextpnr-generic package.

nextpnr-generic is:

nextpnr aims to be a vendor neutral, timing driven, FOSS FPGA place and route tool.

nextpnr-generic allows running placement and routing for arbitrary custom architectures. It is more experimental than nextpnr-ice40.

To fix this problem, we can install more using the command below.

sudo apt-get -y install nextpnr-generic

This command might take some time to finish depending on your machine internet connection.

You can also use apt command to install nextpnr-generic.

sudo apt -y install nextpnr-generic

Or if you have aptitude installed you can use the following command.

sudo aptitude install nextpnr-generic
