mailutils-config command not found

mailutils-config: command not found

or when using sudo you get the following error message

sudo: mailutils-config: command not found

In Ubuntu mailutils-config is provided by libmailutils-dev package.

libmailutils-dev is:

GNU Mailutils is a rich and powerful protocol-independent mail framework. It contains a series of useful mail libraries, clients, and servers.

This package includes the development files for GNU mailutils and GNU’s Mail abstraction library.

To fix this problem, we can install more using the command below.

sudo apt-get -y install libmailutils-dev

This command might take some time to finish depending on your machine internet connection.

You can also use apt command to install libmailutils-dev.

sudo apt -y install libmailutils-dev

Or if you have aptitude installed you can use the following command.

sudo aptitude install libmailutils-dev
