finalrd command not found

Introduction

When you run more command in linux terminal / console, you get the following error message

finalrd: command not found

or when using sudo you get the following error message

sudo: finalrd: command not found

In Ubuntu finalrd is provided by finalrd package.

finalrd is:

Generates a systemd compatible shutdown runtime directory. This enables to execute scripts and binaries to clean up shutdown.

Also supports hookless operation, to simply facilitate clean shutdowns.

Approximate tmpfs RAM requirement is 14MB on shutdown.

To fix this problem, we can install more using the command below.

sudo apt-get -y install finalrd

This command might take some time to finish depending on your machine internet connection.

You can also use apt command to install finalrd.

sudo apt -y install finalrd

Or if you have aptitude installed you can use the following command.

sudo aptitude install finalrd
