cqmakedb command not found

Introduction

When you run more command in linux terminal / console, you get the following error message

cqmakedb: command not found

or when using sudo you get the following error message

sudo: cqmakedb: command not found

In Ubuntu cqmakedb is provided by codequery package.

codequery is:

This is a tool to index, then query or search C, C++, Java, Python, Ruby, Go and Javascript source code.

It builds upon the databases of cscope and Exuberant ctags.

The databases of cscope and ctags would be processed by the cqmakedb tool to generate the CodeQuery database file.

The CodeQuery database file can be viewed and queried using the codequery GUI tool.

To fix this problem, we can install more using the command below.

sudo apt-get -y install codequery

This command might take some time to finish depending on your machine internet connection.

You can also use apt command to install codequery.

sudo apt -y install codequery

Or if you have aptitude installed you can use the following command.

sudo aptitude install codequery
