cake command not found

Introduction

When you run more command in linux terminal / console, you get the following error message

cake: command not found

or when using sudo you get the following error message

sudo: cake: command not found

In Ubuntu cake is provided by cakephp-scripts package.

cakephp-scripts is:

CakePHP is a flexible model-view-controller rapid application development framework for PHP inspired by Ruby on Rails.

This package contains the bake.php and acl.php scripts for creating (or “baking”) CakePHP applications and modifying Access Control Lists.

To fix this problem, we can install more using the command below.

sudo apt-get -y install cakephp-scripts

This command might take some time to finish depending on your machine internet connection.

You can also use apt command to install cakephp-scripts.

sudo apt -y install cakephp-scripts

Or if you have aptitude installed you can use the following command.

sudo aptitude install cakephp-scripts
