speakupconf command not found

speakupconf: command not found

or when using sudo you get the following error message

sudo: speakupconf: command not found

In Ubuntu speakupconf is provided by speakup-tools package.

This package provides three scripts to configure and make easier using speakup_soft module.

speakupconf allows one to save and restore speakup’s customizable variables.
speakup_setlocale allows one to choose another language so that speakup’s messages are localized.
talkwith allows one to easily switch between speech synthesizers.

To fix this problem, we can install more using the command below.

sudo apt-get -y install speakup-tools

This command might take some time to finish depending on your machine internet connection.

You can also use apt command to install speakup-tools.

sudo apt -y install speakup-tools

Or if you have aptitude installed you can use the following command.

sudo aptitude install speakup-tools
