In Ubuntu noshell is provided by titantools package.

titantools is:

Titantools provides two of the tools provided by the Titan package which are:

  • noshell: an alternative way to login’s nologin to add shells to administrative (locked) system users.
  • runas: a simple generic program that allows administrators to start daemons as non privileged users, and optionally to run in a chrooted environment.

To fix this problem, we can install more using the command below.

sudo apt-get -y install titantools

This command might take some time to finish depending on your machine internet connection.

You can also use apt command to install titantools.

sudo apt -y install titantools

Or if you have aptitude installed you can use the following command.

sudo aptitude install titantools
