msiecfexport command not found

msiecfexport: command not found

or when using sudo you get the following error message

sudo: msiecfexport: command not found

In Ubuntu msiecfexport is provided by libmsiecf-utils package.

libmsiecf-utils is:

libmsiecf is a library to access the Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE) Cache File (index.dat) files.

This package contains tools to access data stored in index.dat files: msiecfexport, msiecfinfo.

To fix this problem, we can install more using the command below.

sudo apt-get -y install libmsiecf-utils

This command might take some time to finish depending on your machine internet connection.

You can also use apt command to install libmsiecf-utils.

sudo apt -y install libmsiecf-utils

Or if you have aptitude installed you can use the following command.

sudo aptitude install libmsiecf-utils
