How To Fix kinit: command not found in Ubuntu / Debian / Kali Linux / Raspbian

In Ubuntu kinit is provided by krb5-user package.

krb5-user is:

Kerberos is a system for authenticating users and services on a network. Kerberos is a trusted third-party service. That means that there is a third party (the Kerberos server) that is trusted by all the entities on the network (users and services, usually called “principals”).

This is the MIT reference implementation of Kerberos V5.

This package contains the basic programs to authenticate to MIT Kerberos, change passwords, and talk to the admin server (to create and delete principals, list principals, etc.).

To fix this problem, we can install more using the command below.

sudo apt-get -y install krb5-user

This command might take some time to finish depending on your machine internet connection.

You can also use apt command to install krb5-user.

sudo apt -y install krb5-user

Or if you have aptitude installed you can use the following command.

sudo aptitude install krb5-user
