In Ubuntu grub-install is provided by grub2-common package.

grub2-common is:

This package contains common files shared by the distinct flavours of GRUB. The files in this package are specific to GRUB 2, and would break GRUB Legacy if installed on the same system.

To fix this problem, we can install more using the command below.

sudo apt-get -y install grub2-common

This command might take some time to finish depending on your machine internet connection.

You can also use apt command to install grub2-common.

sudo apt -y install grub2-common

Or if you have aptitude installed you can use the following command.

sudo aptitude install grub2-common
