gettext.sh command not found

gettext.sh: command not found

or when using sudo you get the following error message

sudo: gettext.sh: command not found

In Ubuntu gettext.sh is provided by gettext-base package.

gettext-base is:

This package includes the gettext and ngettext programs which allow other packages to internationalize the messages given by shell scripts.

To fix this problem, we can install more using the command below.

sudo apt-get -y install gettext-base

This command might take some time to finish depending on your machine internet connection.

You can also use apt command to install gettext-base.

sudo apt -y install gettext-base

Or if you have aptitude installed you can use the following command.

sudo aptitude install gettext-base
