gcab command not found

or when using sudo you get the following error message

sudo: gcab: command not found

In Ubuntu gcab is provided by gcab package.

gcab is:

gcab can list, extract and create cabinet (.cab) files, commonly used as archives to distribute software on Windows.

gcab is similar to cabextract but can create cabinet files.

To fix this problem, we can install more using the command below.

sudo apt-get -y install gcab

This command might take some time to finish depending on your machine internet connection.

You can also use apt command to install gcab.

sudo apt -y install gcab

Or if you have aptitude installed you can use the following command.

sudo aptitude install gcab
