copyright-update command not found

copyright-update: command not found

or when using sudo you get the following error message

sudo: copyright-update: command not found

In Ubuntu copyright-update is provided by copyright-update package.

copyright-update is:

Update the copyright information in set of files, possibly recursively, matching content criteria. The updating affects copyright year, GPL address information etc.

To fix this problem, we can install more using the command below.

sudo apt-get -y install copyright-update

This command might take some time to finish depending on your machine internet connection.

You can also use apt command to install copyright-update.

sudo apt -y install copyright-update

Or if you have aptitude installed you can use the following command.

sudo aptitude install copyright-update
