chpasswd command not found

or when using sudo you get the following error message

sudo: chpasswd: command not found

In Ubuntu chpasswd is provided by passwd package.

passwd is:

sudo apt-get -y install passwd

You can also use apt command to install passwd.

sudo apt -y install passwd

Or if you have aptitude installed you can use the following command.

sudo aptitude install passwd
